Remembering Jeannie Peterson Moore

Moore, Jeannie M. Dec 9, 1969 – May 23, 2018 Jeannie’s passion in life was her music. A piano player and trumpet player, Jeannie was a graduate of Omaha Westside High School where she played in the award winning Concert Jazz Band. She was a member of The University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band and The Railmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Later, she and her husband were members of The Nebraska Wind Symphony. Preceded in death by grandparents, Martin and Mildred Werner and Edwin and Wilma Peterson; father-in-law, Deacon Fred W. Moore. Survived by husband, Stephen F. Moore; step-daughter, Alexandra S. Moore; parents, Robert and Peggy Peterson; siblings, Ronald Peterson (Sabrina Bedard) and Julie (William) Kelty; mother-in-law, Rosemarie Franks Moore. MEMORIAL MASS: Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 1pm at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 6116 Dodge St, Omaha. Internment: Calvary. Family will direct memorials.

Remembering Jane Ferguson

Jane A. Ferguson, 59, of Omaha, Neb., passed away on Thursday, March 22, at her home in Omaha, Neb.

Jane was born on March 19, 1958, to Robert and Leota (Storz) Ferguson in Council Bluffs.

Jane graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. She attended college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a bachelor’s degree in science. In college, Jane was a member of the marching band.

Jane had a very creative mind and wrote several manuscripts. She loved the University of Nebraska football.

Archives Afternoons

The University Libraries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Archives and Special Collections with a series of presentations.

February 15th is about the history of the Cornhusker Marching Band. All presentations are 1 to 2 p.m. in the Adele Hall Learning Commons in Love Library North.

The presentations will feature a member of the University Archives team available to discuss a topic from university history and answer questions. Each Archives Afternoon will feature photographs, artifacts and documents. Members of the university community are encouraged to stop in at any time during the hour-long chats.

Archives Afternoons will be offered every third Thursday of the month in the spring and fall semesters. Scheduled dates and topics in the series include:

Jan. 18 — Student organizations
Feb. 15 — Cornhusker Marching Band
March 15 — Women in agriculture
April 19 — Collecting Willa Cather
August — Date and topic to be announced
Sept. 20 — Husker athletics
Oct. 18 — Scrapbooks
Nov. 15 — Storage media

The 2018 Reunion Weekend will be September 14-15, 2018. The game is UNL vs. Troy. Game time is not set and now that we have the date, we’ll begin to plan the Friday night pep rally. Please visit our website or Facebook page for updates. Registration should be open after July 1, 2018.

You are invited to attend a reception for the current band members and alumni following the the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Concert on Saturday, December 9. The concert begins at 7:30 pm at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The reception will be in the concession area.
