10 Willson Mellophones on eBay

Hello Beloved Alumni!

I’ve promised to let the alumni know when UNL instruments are for sale on eBay and I’m hoping you’ll spread the word to everyone. 10 Willson mellophones  (affectionately known as “frumpets”) have been removed from inventory and will be posted on eBay shortly. The campus organization handling the sale is UNL Surplus Solutions (unlsurplussolutions@unl.edu). All inquiries should be directed to Surplus Solutions as they will be happy to supply the link to the instruments as well as answer prospective buyers questions.

Thanks to Chuck and his peeps, the mellophones have been refurbished and should fetch a pretty penny!

Thank you for all you do, and have a lovely weekend!

Drumline Getting Noticed

The UNL Drumline has been getting a lot of attention recently. If you have been to a football game this year, you may have seen the drumline promote recycling with Pepsi. If you don’t have tickets, here’s the commercial.

Yamaha Percussion Instruments has also used the UNL Drumline in a recent ad seen here.

School of Music celebrates $8 million gift from Glenn Korff

For generations to come, students and faculty members at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Music will benefit from an $8 million gift from UNL alumnus Glenn Korff to the University of Nebraska Foundation. Message from the President, Steve Pearson

This year’s Alumni Game is the fourth home game of the season, September 21st, versus South Dakota  State. We look forward to seeing as many alumni as possible, participating in a spectacular half-time show and renewing friendships.

Don’t miss the opportunity to connect with other alums by attending the Friday night dinner and post-game party in addition to the game.  Our Friday night dinner continues to grow at Auld Pavilion Ball-room in Antelope Park. This year’s dinner is catered by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. The meal will include marinated chicken breasts, pulled pork, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, baked potato casserole, drinks, and dessert.  The venue is adjacent to the playground at Antelope Park, making it convenient for alumni with young children. After dinner, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Cornhusker Band’s appearance in recognition of Johnny Carson on the Kennedy Center Honors..  We will also take the opportunity to hear from faculty from the school of music about the current state of the marching band and the band program at the University of Nebraska.

This year’s post-game party will be held at the Ridnour Room.  It is located in the same building as the Apothecary Lofts where we have held the post-game party for the last five years.  If you are coming  back to Lincoln from out of town, this will give you a great opportunity to check out the phenomenal growth in the Haymarket surrounding the new Pinnacle Bank Arena.  For an advance registration of just $5.00 per person, you can join your fellow alums and guests for Runzas, Valentino’s Pizza, sodas, and water. This un-structured event offers opportunities for socializing, eating, and relaxing.

Please make plans to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
