These scholarships provide meaningful support for the real, everyday costs of being in the band, including uniform dry cleaning, instrument maintenance, marching shoes, and even the credit hours required for participation. By easing these expenses, the program helps students focus on what matters most: performance, growth, and community.
Supporting Student Success in the Cornhusker Marching Band
The directors of Nebraska Bands award these scholarships to students who stand out for their character, commitment, and contribution to the ensemble. In addition, the funds allow directors to strengthen sections that need support and to recognize students who are making a difference in meaningful ways.
Jack R. Snider Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to current members of the Cornhusker Marching Band who are non-music majors and who embody the spirit of Nebraska Bands in every sense.
Recipients are recognized for:
- Leadership (formal or informal)
- Volunteerism and service to others
- Integrity and strong character
- Serving as role models within their section and the band as a whole
These students exemplify what it means to be part of the “Pride of All Nebraska,” representing both excellence on the field and character off it.
Jack R. Snider Freshman Scholarship
Established in 2020, the Freshman Scholarship provides early support for new members of the Cornhusker Marching Band as they begin their Nebraska journey.
This award is based on financial need and helps incoming students successfully transition into the demands and rewards of band life, ensuring they can fully participate from their very first season.
Through both scholarships, the legacy of Jack R. Snider lives on—supporting talented students, strengthening the Cornhusker Marching Band, and helping ensure that every member has the opportunity to thrive.
