3:30p – 4:30p
Lentz Room 218 Love Library South
The Cornhusker Marching Band and the UNL Archives have teamed up to create a band history website celebrating 140 years of tradition. One of the highlights will be over 60 videos of the band from as early as the 1920s, whose digitization was made possible by band alum Gary Steffens, the Band Alumni Association, and the UNL Libraries. You are invited to an open house to celebrate the launch of the website on August 30th, where the Archives and the Nebraska Bands will display some of the materials in their collections, such as photographs, bowl game memorabilia, scrapbooks, drill charts, and the occasional saber (there were perks of being in the band when it was part of the military)!
The open house will last an hour, during which time you will be able to browse materials, explore the new website, and share memories with other band alumni. There will be brief remarks and acknowledgements by band director Tony Falcone and band alum and site developer Jessica Dussault. Come and go as it suits your schedule for the afternoon!
