Jack Snider, 93, Lincoln, died Friday, February 20, 2015, of natural causes. Born July 24, 1921 in McCook, Neb., to Harvey Martin and Alice Elizabeth (Amen) Snider. Served as director of bands/marching band and professor of French horn at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1950-1986. Graduate of UNL with undergrad and masters degrees in music. Also attended Peru State Teachers College and Wilber High School. Served in the United States Army during World War II.

Member of the American Bandmasters Association, Nebraska Bandmasters Association, College Band Directors National Association, National Band Association, Phi Kappa Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Gamma Lambda and Kiwanis International. Awards include: Don Lentz Outstanding Band Master Award 1976, Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from UNL College of Fine Arts 1995 and Kiwanis Distinguished Service Award 1997.

Survivors: Son, daughter-in-law, Robert and Ann Snider; granddaughter, Erin; grandson, David William Snider and wife Nicole; great-grandsons, Dylan and Nicolas Snider; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Loyd Snider, Jane Snider, Hervon Snider, and Dorothy (Snider) Price; Beloved wife of 45 years, Mary Alice (Peterson) Snider in 1992, and their son, David Martin Snider in 2006.

Memorial service to be held 2:30, Sunday, March 1, 2015, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 ‘M’ Street.
